SLIPPERY ROCK — Past and present military veterans will be honored guests of the Slippery Rock University baseball team May 4 at Critchfield Park.

The Rock will host Military Appreciation Day for its 4 p.m. doubleheader against Gannon. Activities begin at 2 p.m. with a free tailgate party for all veterans in the parking lot adjacent to the ballpark.

SRU’s baseball team will wear specially-designed camouflage jerseys as part of the day’s event.

Active and retired military personnel are asked to RSVP to Laura Vernon at 724-738-4137 by 5 p.m. Monday.

North Country Trail receives NTF grant

The Butler Outdoor Club has been awarded an American Hiking Society’s National Trails Fund grant of $1,400 for sign improvement on the North Country Trail.

The BOC partnered with the Butler NCT Chapter and DCNR Moraine to design and build new signs featuring trail maps to be placed over almost 29 miles. The signs will soon be installed.
