CRANBERRY TWP — Cranberry safety agencies are offering a free CarFit consultation for senior drivers.

To help older drivers maintain their driving independence, Cranberry's police department and EMS along with AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association will provide senior drivers with a personalized evaluation to help ensure a comfortable positioning of seats, safety belts, sun visors, mirrors, head restraints and pedal movement for safe driving.

CarFit has a 12-point fit check that takes about 20 minutes and is free. Evaluators also might suggest the use of adaptive devices, such as pedal, visor and seat belt extenders to help the driver.

A limited number of appointments are available. The program will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 8 at the township's municipal center rear parking lot. To reserve a time, call 724-776-5180, Ext. 5.
