SLIPPERY ROCK — Seneca Valley graduate Claire Zimmerman scattered eight hits in 6.1 innings pitched Tuesday in helping the Slippery Rock University softball team score a 4-1, 6-3 doubleheader sweep of Wheeling.

Zimmerman struck out four in winning the nightcap.

SRU improved to 7-17 overall. Erin Gardner had five hits, two RBI and two runs scored in the twinbill. Kelsi Anderson was the winning pitcher in Game 1.

Anderson retired 20 of the final 21 batters she faced.

SRU returns to action Wednesday, hosting West Liberty in a twinbill.
