Franklin woman arrested, held on warrant after traffic stop

State police in Clarion arrested a woman who authorities say falsely reported a trooper with the Butler barracks of inappropriately touching her during an impaired driving traffic stop last spring in Center Township.

Lacey L. Vanwormer, 32, of Franklin, was arrested Sunday for an outstanding warrant during a different traffic stop on Route 68 in Monroe Township in Clarion County, according to a police report.

Vanwormer is currently being held in the Clarion County Jail, but will be transferred to the Butler County Prison for her ongoing cases.

Vanwormer was charged with driving under the influence back in March 2019. Online court documents list the case as pending without a scheduled next action.

A week after that initial incident, Vanwormer lodged a complaint against the state trooper who arrested her, alleging she was roughly and inappropriately touched in front of the patrol car following her field sobriety tests.

An internal investigation found Vanwormer's complaints to be false, and the case was forwarded to the Butler County District Attorney's Office for review. That office absolved the trooper in a statement and filed additional misdemeanor charges against Vanwormer for making false reports and unsworn falsifications.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Vanwormer's falsification case. The hearing is slated for 10:45 a.m. Jan. 9 before District Judge Kevin O'Donnell.
