An overturned mid-sized excavator blocked the entry to Park Place on Powell Road Monday.

CRANBERRY TWP — Overturned heavy equipment blocked an entrance to Park Place for more than an hour Monday morning.

Township police responded around 10 a.m. to an overturned mid-size Komatsu excavator at the intersection of Powell Road and Buck Tail Drive. By 11 a.m., the machine was right-side-up, and another machine was helping to straighten the excavator.

The excavator appeared to suffer damage to its frame and parts of the machine were strewn around. In addition to the machinery, a stop sign was bent and a light pole was knocked from its base. The pole crashed through a white picket fence.

No units other than police responded. Buck Tail Drive was still closed at the entry to Powell Road by noon.
