Sarver couple accused of burglary while attempting to take a child

A Sarver couple is accused of breaking into a home and attempting to take custody of the woman’s child, according to charges filed by state police.

Amber Starr Lewis, 28, and Robert Henry Hupp, 26, were both charged Thursday, Nov. 5, with felony counts of burglary and trespass following an incident Wednesday.

According to the affidavit, police responded to a home along Old Route 422 in Summit Township where they spoke with a woman who claimed Lewis and Hupp entered her residence without permission.

The resident told police during the altercation, Lewis struck her in the face with a closed fist and Hupp pinned her down. Police said the woman did not appear to be injured.

When interviewed by police, Lewis and Hupp both admitted to entering the residence without permission but denied an altercation occurred.

Police said Lewis said she was attempting to take custody of her child.

Preliminary hearings for the two are scheduled at 9 and 9:10 a.m. Jan. 5 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
