New inmate facing drug charges
A Butler County Prison inmate, moments after being booked in, was arrested again after a search turned up bags of suspected heroin in his wallet, state police said.
Christopher S. Walker, 22, of Brady Township was brought to the prison Thursday on an arrest warrant for stealing two checks last month from a man's home in Brady Township.
He later cashed the checks for a combined $100. He is charged in that case with forgery, theft and receiving stolen property.
But while being processed and searched at the prison, a correctional officer found seven stamp bags of suspected heroin, marked with the street name “Drunken Love,” inside his wallet, according to court documents.
Police said the bags were hidden behind his debit card.
Walker was arraigned on a felony charge of bringing a controlled substance into the prison, and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct.
He is in the prison on $10,000 bail.
Meanwhile, Walker is already awaiting trial in the county on five other theft-related cases, four of them felonies, court records show.
