SPRINGFIELD TWP, Mercer County — Cliff Hovis is cleaning out the former Born2Run indoor sports facility for use as a warehouse for his business, Hovis Auto and Truck Supply.

Hovis said the plumbing, electric and gas utilities were all turned on in the past few days and the company is working on a redevelopment plan.

"We are going to modify the building because we are putting a six-bay dock on one end of it, and everything is going well," Hovis said.

In July he bought the facility on Route 208 near the Prime Outlets at an auction for $1.65 million. It cost $11 million to build.

Hovis Auto has 12 locations along Interstate 79 from Erie to Pittsburgh, he said.

Hovis said workers are selling off the contents in the building. Hovis said there is a wide array of sporting goods and equipment available, and Hovis will be selling everything from bleachers, basketball hoops and full soccer fields to school districts, YMCAs and municipalities.

"As far as selling the contents, we want to keep everything as local as possible," Hovis said. "We want to give a good break to everyone who works with youth."

The money collected from selling the sports equipment will be used to pay for the improvements that will be made to the building for warehouse purposes.

Hovis hopes the company will settle into the new warehouse between January and March.
