Fire causes minor damage at water pollution facility
CRANBERRY TWP — Fire crews from several municipalities responded Wednesday afternoon to a fire call at the township’s Brush Creek Water Pollution Control Facility.
The call came about noon for crews to respond to 2306 Powell Road, which is near the intersection with Glen Eden Road.
No smoke or flames were visible from the road although crews could be seen going in and out of the building and circling the perimeter looking for signs of fire.
Township manager Jerry Andree said the fire was electrical and caused by a malfunctioning heater.
“Thankfully, nobody was hurt,” he said.
Andree said operations at the plant, which serves sewage treatment needs for the entire township, were not affected by the fire. He did not have an exact damage estimate, but he said the fire caused less than $1,000 in damage.
