MONROEVILLE — A 16-year-old girl was fatally stabbed Wednesday evening by a man who then tried to kill himself, police said.

Demi Cuccia was found outside some townhouses in Monroeville, authorities said. The 19-year-old suspect was found about 25 feet away in a parking area.

Monroeville police said he had slashed his throat.

Cuccia was rushed to Forbes Regional Health Center in Monroeville, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The suspect, whose name was not yet released, was in critical condition at Allegheny General Hospital.

Cuccia was a student at Gateway High School, officials said.

The Allegheny County medical examiner said an autopsy was scheduled for today.
