3 charged in Benedum Center ticket-stealing scheme

PITTSBURGH — State agents charged three people with stealing tickets from a Pittsburgh theater, reselling them on the Internet, and also using customer credit card numbers to buy more tickets which they resold.

Vaughn Davis, 50, his fiancee Madge Hayes, 47, and their friend Patrick Conderato, 38, are charged with theft and computer crimes involving the Benedum Center.

The attorney general said Davis worked at the theater taking credit card orders over the phone. He alleges Davis intercepted tickets to popular shows like "The Lion King" and had Hayes resell them through Craigslist and other online sites. Davis and Hays said Conderato helped deliver the tickets and split the money.

The investigation began in February 2008 when someone who bought tickets from Davis was refused entry to a show because the tickets had been reported missing by the original buyer.
