Arson is blamed on firefighter
JOHNSTOWN — A volunteer firefighter was charged Tuesday with setting fire to an auto mechanic shop and two vacant homes.
Police said Charles Edward Shenego, a member of the Lower Yoder Volunteer Fire Department, told investigators that he set the fires because there were no good fire calls in the township and he was looking for some action.
"He got an adrenaline rush to set and then fight them," said West Hills Regional Police Detective Sgt. George Musulin.
Shenego, 19, of Johnstown, was charged with two counts of arson and one count each of causing or risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief, and loitering and prowling at night.
