State reports 15th salmonella case
NORRISTOWN — Pennsylvania officials are reporting another salmonella case believed to be part of a nationwide outbreak that started in September.
It's the state's 15th case connected to the strain that has infected 529 people in 43 states. Investigators believe peanut butter may be to blame.
Officials say the 36-year-old man lives in Montgomery County in suburban Philadelphia. He's recovering at home.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that 529 people have been infected in the outbreak across the country.
Most of the illnesses started between Sept. 1 and Jan. 16.
CDC officials say about a quarter of the patients have needed to be hospitalized. The infection may have contributed to eight deaths.
