Zelie Rotary picks parade grand marshal
The Rotary Club of Zelienople announced Thomas R. Murray as the grand marshal for this year’s Independence Day Parade, which starts at 1 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Rotary club.
Murray is involved with community projects, including the Main Street Revitalization Board, fundraising for the Zelienople Community Pool, Seneca Valley Athletic Association facilities development, and the development and maintenance of the 9-mile trail encircling Zelienople and Harmony.
Also at its annual year-end dinner June 23, the club recognized Bob Jodon with the 2021 Doc Viola Service Above Self Award.
According to the news release, Jodon professionally sewed many masks throughout 2020, which the club sold as a fundraiser during the coronavirus pandemic.
The club also recognized volunteers of the English Lutheran Church at the dinner for their work in distributing meals to the community during the pandemic.
The Rotary club made a $1,000 donation to the church’s meals program. Volunteers from the church were present at the dinner to receive the donation.
