State Department of Health issues measles update
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has confirmed 1,398 measles cases across 44 counties this year as of Monday.
So far, there have been 265 hospitalizations and five deaths this year in Pennsylvania due to measles, according to the department’s data.
While daily numbers fluctuate, the department said tracking these trends provides Pennsylvanians and healthcare providers with visibility into both community transmission across the state and the ongoing response.
The department said about 300 members of its staff are proactively working with residents, community organizations and healthcare providers to combat the measles outbreak in the state through access to fact-based information and access to the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine.
