Mayor Ben Smith declared Friday in Butler as “Penn Street Pizza Day” in a proclamation recognizing the shop for being in business for 40 years.

The owner, Alan Miles, opened the shop as a Fox’s Pizza in 1980 and changed the name to Penn Street Pizza in January 2017.

The shop holds fundraisers for many organizations, including the Emily Brittain Elementary School PTO, according to the proclamation.

“Penn Street Pizza has been in continuous operation in the city of Butler since 1980. They not only provide stable employment to citizens in our community, but they also promote good business practices and charitable giving for neighbor hood needs,” the proclamation states.
