13-year-old was the driver in crash that killed classmate
DOVER — A car that was apparently speeding with a 13-year-old boy at the wheel ran off the road and hit a tree, killing his eighth-grade classmate, police said.
Fourteen-year-old Corey Brady was killed instantly in the crash Friday night, police said. The 13-year-old, whom police would not identify, was hospitalized in serious condition.
Brady was sleeping over at the other boy's house when the two of them left in a car belonging to a relative of the 13-year-old, said Lt. Mark Bentzel of the Northern York County Regional Police.
The boys were not wearing seat belts, and alcohol did not appear to be a factor, police said.
Counselors were available to meet with students at Dover Intermediate School, where Brady was a student and a member of the football team. The 13-year-old is also a student there.
