Seneca adds hot line to report sensitive info
JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley School District has installed a new telephone hot line for people to anonymously report sensitive information to school officials.
Superintendent Tracy Vitale said at a school board meeting Monday night the hot line is designed to field calls regarding student safety, bullying, violence, drug use or any other matter facing students.
It is also designed to complement the district’s Sprigeo program, which is an online tip-reporting program that’s been in use in the district for several years.
Vitale said the hot line could be used by anyone without access to the Internet. She added that reports submitted to the hot line will be forwarded electronically to school officials.
The superintendent also said the new hot line shouldn’t replace emergency numbers like 911 and urged residents to call that number if they are reporting an event that could immediately affect the school or its students.
The hot line number is 724-631-1677.
