In memory of Shirley Ann Smith, December 2, 1982 — September 7, 2006

My beautiful niece,

If I had only known that the last time I saw you our goodbye was going to be one that lasted forever, I know that I could not have left. The past year has been so surreal to me. Shirl, you are my inspiration, and I truly do not understand how something so tragic could happen to such a wonderful person who was so full of life.

Thank you for all of the good times we shared and the great memories. You were always my partner in crime and it is hard for me to return home when such a huge piece of what home is to me is now gone. I love you; it is something I wish that I had told you more often.

You have been dearly missed by all of your family and friends. We will never forget...you are always in our thoughts.
