Butler County man accused of threatening to blow up house
A Butler County man has been accused of threatening to blow up a house during an argument Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Brian R. McKain, 68, of Center Township, was charged with three misdemeanor counts each of terrorist threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault and harassment, according to charges filed by Pennsylvania State Police.
An affidavit states that officers were dispatched at 7:15 a.m. to the 100 block of McKain Lane for an active domestic incident possibly involving weapons.
When officers arrived, witnesses said a verbal altercation had occurred the previous night around dinner time, when McKain started arguing with another person in the house, which lead to McKain threatening to fight.
McKain lunged at the other person, and one of the other people in the house tried to separate them, according to police. Once McKain was restrained, the police were called. However, McKain said once he was free, he was going to get a gun and kill everyone.
Once McKain was free, he retreated to the basement, where he got black powder and a torch, stating he was going to blow up the house and everyone, according to police.
McKain was unable to post bail and remains in Butler County Prison. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Nov. 3.
