MIDDLESEX TWP — Police arrested one suspect Monday and are looking for two others in connection with a burglary at a township home where the trio allegedly made off with more than $10,000 in property — including a handgun.

They even took the bathroom plunger and toilet brush, authorities said.

Anthony J. Parrotta, 27, of Kittanning is behind bars on several felony charges. One of his suspected accomplices, Brandon A. Dolan, 23, of Center Township, is wanted on an arrest warrant.

A third suspect has not been identified.

Middlesex Township police suspect the three men targeted a home on Browns Mill Road earlier this month, and stole numerous items.

The loot, township police said, included head phones, Bluetooth speakers, video game equipment and games, guitars, a laptop computer, a large Coke bottle coin bank that contained hundreds of dollars and a .22-caliber revolver.

The homeowner also reported he was missing the inexpensive bathroom accessories. In all, the stolen items were valued at $10,216.

The family discovered the break-in July 13 when they returned home from a weeklong vacation.

The defendants apparently were aware of the vacation plans, according to charging documents, and they knew that the home would be unoccupied.

Patrolman Bryan Costanzo, knowing about the stolen bottle coin bank, had a hunch that whoever carried out the burglary might try to exchange those coins for bills, police said.

He knew the Walmart in Butler Township had a coin-cashing machine, and he eventually obtained store surveillance video.

The video showed three men walking to the store. One of them, later identified as Dolan, was carrying what appeared to be the stolen 2- to 3-foot tall Coke bottle bank, documents said.

Parrotta also was recognized as one of the other men.

The video allegedly showed Dolan using the coin-cashing machine and receiving a receipt for $215.88. Police later checked and found that the transaction allegedly occurred July 7.

District Judge Sue Haggerty on Monday issued Costanzo a search warrant for Dolan's house. State police accompanied him to the home, where they found Dolan and Parrotta on the porch.

Dolan ran away, police said. Parrotta stayed put and was detained.

During questioning at the state police barracks, Parrotta admitted to the burglary and implicated Dolan and a third man, documents said. He claimed he did not know the other man's name.

He said they went to the house in the late hours of July 6 following a concert.

Police said Parrotta admitted he and his accomplices went to the Walmart and cashed in the coins. They allegedly sold some of the other items at other stores.

Two stolen speakers and headphones were recovered from Dolan's house during the search, documents said.

Haggerty arraigned Parrotta on felony charges of burglary, conspiracy, trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. Dolan faces the same charges.

Parrotta was placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail following arraignment.

But on Tuesday, he was transferred to the Armstrong County Jail on unrelated charges of receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia filed last year by state police in Kittanning.
