Sewage service expanded

It could bring Buffalo business

BUFFALO TWP — Township officials hope sewage service extension along Route 228 will bring new businesses to the corridor.

Supervisor John Haven, board chairman, said in an interview that the expanded service from the Municipal Authority of Buffalo Township will be beneficial.

“It could be a boon for development,” Haven said.

The extension along the highway toward Ekastown Road will add 14 commercial buildings to the sewage system.

A $279,000 state Department of Community & Economic Development H2O grant will fund most of the cost.

The businesses already paid a total of $10,000 in connection fees.

Township supervisors on Wednesday paved the way for the extension by approving the authority’s revision of its sewage plan.

They also heard plans from developer John Manson, who wants to open a drive-in movie theater along Route 356 next year.

He plans to buy land between Route 356 and Parker Road.

Haven said Manson needs approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation before he can move forward with his project.

No plans for the drive-in have been submitted to the township.
