MARS — Shawn Proper, senior vice president, mortgage and consumer lending at Mars National Bank, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Bankers Association's Mortgage Banking Advisory Committee.

The committee reviews and recommends education and training programs for mortgage banking professionals.

He began serving his one-year term July 1.

Proper has nearly 20 years in mortgage and consumer lending, including nine years with Mars National.

The association in Harrisburg is the state's leading banking organization.

BUTLER TWP — Allison Hartley Adelman recently bought Unlimited Staffing in the Moraine Pointe Plaza from Candy Hartley and Lucinda Sheppeck, who started the business nearly 25 years ago.The firm provides industrial, clerical and professional staffing services in Butler, Mercer and Armstrong counties.A graduate of Butler High School, Adelman worked as a technical recruiter at Aegis Software in New York City.She has a bachelor's from Chatham College, a master's in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City and a master's in counseling psychology from Chatham.She lives in Marshall Township, Allegheny County.

BUTLER TWP — Lifesteps announced Jennifer Whitmoyer joined the nonprofit organization as vice president, community relations and organizational development.The Slippery Rock resident will fill a variety of roles focused on agency development, including overseeing the agency's family services, being a community liaison and providing training for the organization.For the past six years, she had been an associate with Sandler Training in Wexford.She also is active in the community, participating with the Slippery Rock Business Association, Victory Family Church, the Slippery Rock Rotary Club and the Butler County Chamber of Commerce.

PENN TWP — The 21st Chef Tasting Party and Auction will return Oct. 5 at The Mansion, 141 Mansion Lane.The event will have a variety of foods from chefs and restaurants. Attendees get to vote on their favorites for each category.There also will be auctions with items donated from individuals and businesses.Proceeds will benefit Community Care Connections, which is a Butler County-based nonprofit organization that provides services to individuals with special needs. • ESB Bank, based in Ellwood City, recently recognized Terrie Krukenberg for 50 years of service.Krukenberg joined ESB Bank, which was formerly known as Ellwood Federal Savings and Loan Association, on June 8, 1964, after graduating from Lincoln High School.She has been a financial services manager; vice president of operations; senior vice president of branch operations; and is senior vice president of business development.
