CRANBERRY TWP — An arrest has been made in a shooting Monday night that left one man injured.

Kahlil Tavarus Shelton, 23, of Duquesne, was arrested Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. in McKeesport and faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and robbery, among other charges relating to the incident at a home on Marshall Road in Cranberry.

Cranberry Township Police responded to the house around 7:20 p.m. Monday for a report of a shooting. What was initially reported as a jewelry theft turned out to be a drug deal that turned into a robbery, police said.

Shelton fired a shot, and two other men with him gathered the drugs while Shelton threatened the victim and another witness in the house, according to police.

The victim, who police have not named, attempted to flee the house when Shelton fired another shot, striking the victim in the arm and upper torso. Neither the victim nor the suspects are from the Butler County area, said Sgt. Chuck Mascellino, of Cranberry Township Police.

The victim was flown to UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital for surgery and is expected to recover, Mascellino said.
