Wolf calls for resignation of Ellis in wake of sexual assault allegations

Gov. Tom Wolf called for the resignation of state Rep. Brian Ellis, R-11, in the wake of allegations that the Butler Township lawmaker sexually assaulted a woman in Harrisburg more than three years ago.

“The allegations against Representative Ellis are outrageous and unacceptable,” Wolf's spokesman, J.J. Abbott, said in an email. “We stand with the survivor, whose decision to come forward and seek justice is courageous. Gov. Wolf believes Rep. Ellis should resign.”

On Thursday, media reports surfaced that the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office has opened a criminal investigation into the matter. Ellis, 49, has not been charged and the Dauphin County DA's office declined to confirm that there is an investigation.

Ellis couldn't be reached for comment.
