3 residents face charges for soccer field damage

CRANBERRY TWP — Three residents will face charges after allegedly driving a car on to the soccer fields at North Boundary Park and getting it stuck in the mud.

Cranberry police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said those involved are two minors and one adult. He didn’t release their names, citing a pending investigation.

Mascellino said it appears the trio tried to do doughnuts in their car and got stuck in the mud.

In addition to the area near the soccer fields, there also were ruts in the grass near the baseball fields.

“It looks like they didn’t do doughnuts because the car was front-wheel drive,” he said. “They definitely caused some ruts though.”

The incident caused about $250 in damage.

The incident took place just before 8 a.m. Saturday, Mascellino said.

This is the third time an athletic field in Butler County has been damaged by a vehicle in four months.

Vandals caused about $10,000 in damage to the softball field at Moniteau High School in December. Vandals caused more than $20,000 in damage to a field at Laura Doerr Memorial Park in Jefferson Township earlier that same month.
