Weston Cook flicked the ball out to the left on a swing pass to running back Liam Allison, who took it 14 yards to the house, and Moniteau football won a dramatic 7-6 game at Otto-Eldred on Friday night.
The game was scoreless into the fourth quarter before the Terrors scored on a short run. But Weston Cook marched Moniteau down the field for the tying touchdown. Aiden Kern made the winning PAT. The Warriors improve to 3-4 (2-1) after the big District 9 Region 4 win to keep the playoffs well within reach.
Allison finished with the one catch but also had 13 carries for 38 yards. Kern caught seven passes for 137 yards and ran the ball four times for 30 yards. Cook was 8 of 17 for 151 yards and a pick. Cook and Rylan Niggel had interceptions on defense.
Karns City 78, Ridgway 26 — The Gremlins (6-1) took out some frustrations after last week’s upset loss and pounded Ridgway. Owen Kaufman had multiple long touchdowns, including a 35-yard reception, 30-yard run and 60-yard catch-and-run, and Cole Johnston also broke off a 41-yard keeper for a TD early. Gremlins backups got in on the party in the second half with multiple big-play touchdowns. No stats were available from this game.
Mt. Lebanon 21, Seneca Valley 14 — Julian Hunt and Jake Donesec each scored in the first half as the Raiders built a 14-7 lead, but it did not last. The Raiders fell to 2-4 (0-4 Quad County Conference) and is last in the conference with just four teams making the WPIAL Class 6A playoffs. Donesec scored on a 25-yard first-quarter run and finished with 64 yards on 14 carries, and Hunt caught six balls for 76 yards, including a 14-yard TD. Nico Wheeler finished 17 of 34 for 136 yards passing and a TD. Mt. Lebo entered the game 0-5 but scored 14 unanswered points to win for the first time; all three of its TDs came on the ground.
North Catholic 62, Deer Lakes 17 — Anthony Greene had four first-half rushing touchdowns in the Trojans’ blowout win. NC (4-3, 4-0) has won four straight and sits atop the Allegheny 7 Conference by half a game over Highlands (6-1, 3-0). No stats were available from this game.
Kane 20, Union/A-C Valley 13 — The Falcon Knights (2-5) dropped a third straight game. Parker Bish ran for 111 yards on 15 carries, and Micah Kindel went for 82 on 11 touches, including the Falcon Knights’ only scores on runs of 49 and 1 yard. Kindel added 10 tackles on defense.
