CRANBERRY TWP — Two drivers face drunken driving charges following a traffic stop on Rochester Road Sunday morning.

According to the affidavit, township police spotted two speeding vehicles on Route 19 at 2:35 a.m.

Police followed the vehicles, a Jeep and a car, onto Rochester, where they allegedly exceeded 70 mph.

According to the affidavit, the cruiser pulled over the vehicles in the right turn lane for Cross Creek Drive, where the Jeep hit the curb and nearly rear-ended the car.

Loren Calhoun, 34, of Pittsburgh, the driver of the car, was charged with driving under the influence-general impairment, driving under the influence-high rate of alcohol, driving under suspension and exceeding maximum speed limits.

According to the affidavit, Calhoun's blood alcohol content was tested at 0.143 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

Calhoun has an extensive criminal record in Allegheny County, including convictions of aggravated assault, burglary and DUI.

After an arraignment before District Judge Sue Haggerty Sunday, Calhoun was jailed in Butler County Prison, but was released after posting $3,000 bond.

The Jeep driver, Rachel Marie Novalesi, 34, of Rochester in Beaver County, was charged with driving under the influence-general impairment and driving under the influence-high rate of alcohol, and exceeding maximum speed limits.

According to the affidavit, Novalesi's blood alcohol content tested at 0.166 percent.

Her prior record in Beaver County includes convictions of purchase of alcohol by a minor, retail theft and disorderly conduct. Novalesi was jailed, but was released after posting $2,000 bond.

In addition to posting bond, both drivers must wear a SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor) bracelets, which detect alcohol in a person's system.
