Man charged after alleged drugs found
WORTH TWP — A possible overdose victim became a suspect after authorities said they found a large amount of suspected heroin and amphetamine in his shorts this week at Cooper's Lake Campground.
State police arrested Michael L. Clark, 38, of The Villages, Fla., after the early morning call on Monday. He is in the Butler County Prison on $250,000 bond.
Troopers and Harmony EMS were called around 4:30 a.m. after a man was reportedly found lying on the ground at the campground, possibly from a drug overdose, police said.
The ambulance crew got there first and attempted to find the man's identification. Medics checked his shorts' pockets and found a number of plastic bags, some large and some small.
Two of the large bags contained a combined 114 grams of suspected heroin, police said. The other large bag had about 156 grams of amphetamine in it.
Inside the 16 small bags were an unspecified amount of amphetamine and three Xanax pills.
District Judge Bill O'Donnell arraigned Clark on two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 2. Online court records did not indicate if he has an attorney.
