SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Municipal Authority will host an open house at its two new facilities at 7 p.m. July 17.

The facilities are:

&bulll; The water treatment facility, 194 Hines Road

&bulll; The wastewater treatment facility, 114 Crestview Road

Anyone can attend to receive tours of the facilities.

GROVE CITY — Downtown Grove City will host an Ice Cream Festival from noon to 6 p.m. July 18.It will include 18 merchants that will be paired with nonprofit organizations that will receive a portion of the proceeds from the tickets they sell.There also will be vintage cars, children's activities, hula hoop contests, raffles, live music and a sock hop.For information about tickets, visit facebook.com/grovecityicecreamfestival.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University recently was recognized for reducing waste, lessening greenhouse gas emissions and providing leadership in green building design, recycling and educational programs.SRU was awarded the 2015 Sustainability Award in Facilities Management by the American Public Power Administration.SRU has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 26 percent since 2005, according to a news release.It has also improved campus energy efficiency by 40 percent and has achieved LEED certification for six residence halls and the Smith Student Center.
