CHERRY TWP — The state Department of Transportation will host a meeting Sept. 2 to display two bridge replacement projects in Mercer and Marion townships.

PennDOT said the proposed project would replace the bridges along Boyers Road over McMurray Run and Slippery Rock Creek.

Preliminary information on the project's status, schedule, design, and right of way acquisition will be available for review and comment at the meeting. PennDOT representatives, along with design consultants will be available to answer questions.

The meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m.

SOUTH BUFFALO TWP, Armstrong County — Unknown suspects allegedly stole $15,000 from a locked safe inside a Freeport Road home.A 52-year-old man reported the theft to state police in Kittanning. The theft occurred sometime between Aug. 12 and Friday.There was no forced entry into the 600-block home and the suspects locked the safe before fleeing the scene, police said.Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 724-543-2011 and reference incident number D02-1637711.Zelie on lookout after burglariesPolice in Zelienople are asking the public to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity, particularly in the area of High Street and Main Street.Police Chief Jim Miller said there were two burglaries in that area the night of Aug. 15, and a television and other items were stolen. The residents of the homes were away at the times of both burglaries. One of the homes was broken into, Miller said.Police are asking that residents call 911 to report a crime or any suspicious activity.
