Officials end boil water advisory in Harmony
Officials on Sunday lifted a boil water advisory enacted Thursday for parts of southwestern Butler County.
According to Paul Cornetti, consulting engineer for the Harmony Borough Water Authority, the water system has been deemed safe after a pipe was fixed Friday and testing was completed over the past two days.
“We have to show there's no bacteria in the water for two consecutive days,” Cornetti said Sunday. “We just got a call back from the lab that the water is safe.”
The authority placed the advisory into effect Thursday after a pipe broke along Nickel Road, just east of Interstate 79.
Cornetti said the broken pipe resulted in a loss of pressure, and regulations require an immediate advisory in those cases.
The authority provides service to residents of Harmony and parts of Jackson Township.
The Seneca Valley secondary campus at Seneca School Road moved to remote instruction for classes Friday because of the advisory.
As of Sunday, there was no mention of further remote learning because of the issue.
