The office of state Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-8th, is hosting a free shredding event Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon to help residents safely dispose of documents containing personal information and protect themselves from potential identity theft and fraud.

Paper documents containing sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, medical information and bank account numbers can be brought to the event for secure shredding at no cost.

The event will take place at the Forward Township Municipal Building at 207 Ash Stop Road, Evans City.
