County, DA join police to execute 31 search warrants for suspected illegal sales of THC products
Numerous police agencies executed 31 search warrants Wednesday, Oct. 7, throughout Butler County regarding the sale of suspected illegal THC and THC-related products.
The warrants included searches of 12 retail establishments and one residence, according to Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger’s office. The warrants were based on investigations utilizing confidential informants and undercover officers who conducted controlled purchases from several establishments.
According to Goldinger’s office, the controlled purchases were submitted to the state police regional laboratory in Greensburg for chemical analysis, which determined businesses were selling products containing unlawful concentrations of Delta-9 THC as high as 38 times the legal concentration threshold of 0.3% by dry weight.
The investigation also determined some of the businesses sold products to minors, Goldinger’s office said.
State, Butler, Jackson Township, Adams Township and Cranberry Township police were involved in Wednesday’s searches. Butler County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task force and Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General were also involved in the investigations.
According to Goldinger’s office, the investigation remains ongoing. Evidence seized through the search warrants will be reviewed and analyzed and criminal charges are anticipated against multiple individuals.
Goldinger’s office said it and its law enforcement partners remain committed to investigating the unlawful distribution of controlled substances and protecting the community, particularly minors, from the illegal sale of intoxicating products.
