ZELIENOPLE — Two events are happening at the Zelienople Community Park this weekend.

On Saturday, the Bastard Bearded Irishmen will perform at the park's amphitheater. It is a Pittsburgh-based Celtic punk rock band.

The band will take the stage at 9:30 p.m. and play until 11 p.m.

Opening for the band is Mars-based band Dizzy Woosh. It will play at 7 p.m.

“We're looking forward to a big turnout,” parks director Alecia Flood said.

The second event is the third annual mud run on Sunday.

Registration will be at noon, and the race will start at 1 p.m. Families can walk or run the three-mile course, which will have 15 obstacles including tires, haystacks, pools of mud and more.

Awards, food and hot showers follow.

The family event is for people age 3 and up.

CRANBERRY TWP — A Halloween-themed Great Pumpkin Festival will be held for the first time for children ages 1 through 8 on Oct. 16 at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center gym.Starting at 6 p.m., the Parks and Recreation Department “promises that no tricks, only treats,” will be provided at the festival. Children in costumes will be able to get treats, make crafts, play games and select a pumpkin to take home.Early registration is required. The program fee, which is payable at the time of registration, is $7 per child for Cranberry residents and $9 for nonresidents.Registration is available online at www.cranberrytownship.org/resister, by phone at 724-779-4386 or in person at the parks customer service desk in the municipal center.
