Musical event honors victims
ZELIENOPLE — The friends and family of a mother and daughter who died in a fire last month are gathering to hold a music benefit.
“Music for Angels” will be at the Zelienople Community Park from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday in memory of Kalle Convery and her daughter Aidan Kelley. They were killed Sept. 8 in a house fire in New Castle.
Five bands are scheduled to play: the Barbenderz, Jimbo and the Soupbones, the Skipper Johnson Band, Disposable Hero and The Skanders.
Food, prizes, children’s activities, a 50/50 raffle and a basket auction are among other events planned.
Friends organizing the event include Brooke Ash, Brittany Lang and Kevin Switzer.
A BRGR food truck will be there. Convery worked at BRGR in Cranberry Township.
Ash said, “We worked together for quite a few years. We would always close the restaurant. She was all about work. She was a good person.”
A YouCaring online donation fund was created after the tragedy, raising $19,370 from 230 supporters by Oct. 1. The initial goal was $14,000.
Donations to the family will be accepted at the benefit.
Convery’s husband, Andrew Kelley, and son, Quentin, 7, escaped the burning house.
