JEFFERSON TWP — The South Butler School Board appointed Intermediate Elementary Principal Richard Cavett to become the district’s assistant superintendent Wednesday night.

Cavett, who has worked in the district since 2003, will transition from principal to the administrative position this month. He was initially hired as vice principal of the middle school and has been the intermediate elementary principal for the past four years.

He will be making $114,000 per year, with a contract period that’s still to be determined.

Cavett, a Center Township resident, said he’s looking forward to the change.

“I thank you for your confidence in me,” he told board members at the board’s agenda setting meeting Wednesday night.

He replaces David Zupsic, who became superintendent.
