Police arrest man

Sex offender accused of not registering

JACKSON TWP — A sex offender with an arrest warrant pending in South Carolina was arrested in a township business where he had been working.

According to court records, 44-year-old Donnie Lee Jackson must register his whereabouts and place of employment for the rest of his life based on a 1997 sexual assault in Beaver County.

Jackson, who also uses the name Donnie Taft, already twice has been convicted of failing to properly register in the state of South Carolina, according to court records.

Court records say Jackson hasn’t properly registered since 2006, and has never registered in Pennsylvania.

Based on a request by officials in Allegheny County, Jackson Township police on Sept. 24 arrested Jackson at his job site, where he had been working since August.

Court records indicate Jackson was living in New Brighton, Beaver County, at the time of his arrest.

In both Butler and Beaver counties, Jackson now faces a first-degree felony charge of failure to register with state police.

Court records indicate the Union County, South Carolina Sheriff’s Office also has said they will seek to extradite him back to that state.
