Pesticide update class planned

Do you carry a pesticide applicator's license to purchase and use pesticides on your farm? Have you kept your update training credits current? Do you need credits to re-certify?

The state Department of Agriculture requires all licensed pesticide applicators to obtain update training on a regular basis to maintain their license. Although there are a number of categories that license holders may be registered for, most hold licenses for application to agronomic crops.

To help provide area pesticide applicators with the appropriate training to update their licenses, a pesticide update training will be offered on March 20 at the Butler County Community College Convocation Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. The training will qualify for two core and two category 01 (agronomic crops) credits. There is a $5 per person registration fee.

For individuals that would like to take the exam to obtain a pesticide applicator's license, the exam will also be offered on March 20 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center. There is no fee required for individuals taking the exam for a private applicators license, but registration is required ahead of time. To register, contact the Butler County Extension Office at 724-287-4761 or the Beaver County Extension Office at 724-774-3003.

For individuals that need additional update credits in either core, agronomic crops or other pesticide categories, contact the Butler County Extension Office for more information.
