Idling buses wasted fuel
We attended Senior Night at the Butler track meet. There were a few parking spaces left down by the annex when we arrived, so we parked down there by the opposing team's buses.
The seniors were already lining up, so we hurried past the buses to get in line. This was about 3:15; the buses were empty except for the drivers, and all three of them were running.
After the ceremony, I walked back to my car to get my blanket to sit on. The buses still were running.
After one of my son's events, I walked down by the locker room entrance to talk with him. The buses still were running.
The track meet ended about 6:30, so we walked back to the car to leave, and the buses still were running.
For more than three hours those three buses ran, with nobody inside, except the drivers. Why?
Whatever happened to global warming and dependence on foreign oil, or doesn't it pertain to school buses?
