Cleveland-Cliffs hosting U.S. Secretary of Energy

Cleveland-Cliffs Butler Works

Local steel manufacturer Cleveland-Cliffs it is hosting Chris Wright, U.S. Secretary of Energy, and other government leaders at its Butler Works facility Tuesday, Oct. 6, to showcase its previously announced grain oriented electrical steel expansion project.

The visit comes amid Cleveland-Cliffs’ $200 million investment in Butler Works, supported by a $75 million award from the U.S. Department of Energy, aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity.

Cliffs’ project in Butler is intended enhance steel quality, increase operating efficiency and expand the facility's grain oriented electrical steel production volume by 25%.

During the visit, federal officials will receive an update on the progress of the project and discuss the role of domestic grain oriented electrical steel production.
