IMPERIAL — A man accused of fatally shooting two Robert Morris University students was the live-in boyfriend of the woman who also was injured in the shooting Tuesday night, police said.

H. Paul Visnansky, 23, told police he came home to find his girlfriend, Michelle Machusko, 20, in their North Fayette apartment with two men he didn't know, according to a police affidavit.

Visnansky told investigators he didn't remember what happened next, but remembered "the gunpowder smelled really bad" and that he shot Jonathan Gilbert and Michael Tatalovich several times, the affidavit states.

Visnansky also told police he "wished he could have those couple of minutes back" when he opened fire on the three, police said.

Gilbert, 22, of Monaca, and Tatalovich, 20, of Aliquippa, were juniors at Robert Morris and roommates in a dormitory. They were both killed.

Machusko suffered gunshot wounds to the arms, torso and head, authorities said. She was in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and is expected to recover.

Visnansky was charged with homicide, attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

It's not clear if Visnansky has an attorney.

Police arrested Visnansky as he was leaving his apartment complex with a gun.
