Salvation Army reopens soup kitchen after damage
Amy Tebay, administrative assistant at the Salvation Army in Butler, looks over the premises Tuesday. The organization is cleaning up after a sewer backup damaged the building.
The Salvation Army on West Cunningham Street today reopened its soup kitchen.
Most services provided there have been on hold since Feb. 3 due to flooding caused by a sewer backup.
The backup took place after 8 p.m. on Feb. 2 and was discovered the next day.
After-school programs are on hold until further notice.
The soup kitchen runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the upper level of the building. The lower level still needs to be cleaned before it can be used again.
Insurance will help cover the cost of repairs.
