I was once a Democrat
Early in my life, I was a Democrat. I believed that the Democratic Party was an ally of the working class. I believed they favored lowering taxes for all Americans and would work tirelessly to end poverty. I believed Democrats supported small businesses. I believed they were unifiers, not dividers. I believed that if you’re a Democrat you are a staunch enemy of communism and extremism. I believed that if you were a Democrat, you supported law enforcement and embodied the highest moral values.
The Democratic Party I once knew would never genuflect before our enemies or trash the nation’s Founding Fathers. Tragically, I feel the Democratic Party has totally flipped in what they believed in.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the midterm Republican convention nailed why I became a Republican. He said the Democratic Party turned against every one of its essential values, its principles and policies. RFK Jr. emphasized that neither his father nor his uncle would recognize the party today.
Tragically, a once noble party of the people has sunk.
