James ‘Hugo’ Evans

James “Hugo” E. Evans, 62, of Butler, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.

He was born in Montgomery, W.Va., on Oct. 1, 1963, son of the late Sylvester and Barbara (Gorgas) Evans.

Hugo was a pillar to the community, through the Hot Dog Shop, which is now Butler Dog Shop, Gata Trucking and Butler Color Press.

He was a huge Steelers fan and enjoyed camping, drinking beer, or his favorite, Dr. McGillicuddy’s. Hugo was a member of the American Legion Post 243.

Hugo is survived by his children, Jonathan Paul Parker and Ashlea Johnson; siblings, Betty Logan, Chuck, Robert, Eugene “Stymie” and Melinda Evans; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Kenneth Hilliard, Emma Scott, Misty Mansberger and Bob Sloan, for their love and support that they showed during his hospital stay.

EVANS — Family and friends of James “Hugo” E. Evans, who died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A closing prayer will immediately follow in the funeral home.
