Summit Township man accused of sexually assaulting 13-year-old girl

A Summit Township man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in April 2025, according to charges filed earlier this week by state police.

Jeffrey Allen Bergbigler, 20, was charged Thursday, Oct. 1, with felony unlawful contact with a minor and one misdemeanor count each of corruption of minors and indecent assault following a May 1, 2025, ChildLine referral.

Police interviewed the girl May 22, 2025, and were told the incident occurred on or about April 11, 2025, at Bergbigler’s home. Police said a 13-year-old boy was also at the home but was not in the room for part of the incident.

Police said according to the girl, she was on Bergbigler’s lap when he began touching her over and underneath her clothes. After the boy left the room, Bergbigler attempted to kiss the girl and continued to touch her despite the girl telling him no.

According to the boy, Bergbigler was showing the two of them how to “cuddle” and “make out.” Police said the boy believed something could have happened between Bergbigler and the girl when he left the room.

Bergbigler was interviewed in March and said the three of them slept in his bed with the boy between Bergbigler and the girl. He said they played board games and card games in his room and denied touching the girl and her sitting on his lap.

Bergbigler’s preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
