Mark Holfelder
Mark H. Holfelder, 72, of Clay Township, passed away at his home Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, after a brief illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 10, 1954, the son of Carl and Thelma Holfelder.
Mark was a member of St. Faustina Parish in West Sunbury. He was employed at Jem Seal Company and formerly worked for United Mining Equipment. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing and coin collecting. In his younger years, he coached his sons’ baseball teams and was very involved in all of their sports, never missing a game.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathleen “Kitty” (McElhenny) Holfelder, whom he married Nov. 18, 1995, at St. Louis Catholic Church in West Sunbury; his children: son, Mark H. (Merritt Rugg) Holfelder Jr., of Brackenridge, and daughter, Marcella F. Holfelder, of Arizona; two sisters, Christine Aversa (Scott), of Pittsburgh, and Lindarae Schmidt, of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his son, Joe, who passed away Sept. 12, 2021; and his sisters, Linda and Theresa.
HOLFELDER — Memorial Mass for Mark H. Holfelder, who died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at St. Louis Church of St. Faustina Parish, West Sunbury, officiated by Father Sean Francis.
Inurnment will be held privately.
