Judith “Judy” E. Wagner, 81, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Born in Venango Township on July 5, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Ronald “Buss” and Pauline Shoup Montgomery.

She graduated from Moniteau High School and worked for 15 years at the Butler Eagle. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Sons of Italy in Butler.

She is survived by her children, James Wagner, of Butler, and Jackie (Cory) McCullough, of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; an adopted grandchild; two adopted great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Knight, of Wheeling, W.Va., Wanda Scott, of Wheeling, W.Va., Gretchen Roberts, of Fort Worth, Texas, Brenda (Darrell) Rowell Kay Duplaga, of Wheeling, W.Va., and Ruby Younkers, of Butler; and brothers, Richard (Jan) Montgomery, of Clover, S.C., and Ronald Montgomery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her partner, Harry File; a brother, Ernie Montgomery; sisters, Carol Gailott and Bonnie Kreiss; a son, Harry Eugene Wagner; and brothers-in-law, Ken Kreiss and Don Scott.

WAGNER — Friends of Judith “Judy” E. Wagner, who died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 6, at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire.

The funeral will follow at noon at the funeral home.
