CRANBERRY TWP — An alleged hit-and-run accident Saturday has landed a Monroeville man behind bars.

Ryan J. Horan, 23, is charged with DUI: highest rate of alcohol first offense, DUI: general impairment of driving safely first offense, accident involving damage to a vehicle and following too closely.

According to the criminal complaint, at 2:13 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department were called to Route 228 in Seven Fields for a hit-and-run accident. The driver of the struck vehicle said she was stopped at a red light when she was rear-ended. Police noted the vehicle did not sustain any noticeable damage.

An Adams Township police officer stopped the vehicle described as hitting the victim, which was driven by Horan. Officers noticed a smell of alcohol on Horan, and put him through field sobriety tests, which the complaint indicates he did not pass.

Results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.175 percent, police said. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Horan was arraigned Saturday night, and a $5,000 cash bond was set. A preliminary hearing is scheduled May 3.
