Slippery Rock boys soccer thumps Greenville; Butler girls shut out North Hills: Highlights & scores

Slippery Rock boys soccer scored four goals in the first half en route to a 6-0 thrashing of Greenville on Wednesday.

Wade Freehling scored twice while Sam Caton scored a goal and added a pair of assists. Connor Zorn, Eli Flowers and Blake Freehling also scored while Alex Mobley had one helper.

Parker Wilhide earned the shutout.

Girls volleyball

Slippery Rock made quick work of visiting Meadville, sweeping the Bulldogs by scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-16 Wednesday night.

Lyla Runtas totaled 26 digs, and Lexi Caldwell 25 assists while Gia Kovacik, Kasey Yeager and Savannah Smith each dropped five kills.

Girls soccer

Butler’s Molly Rudish scored off an assist from Avery Singer as the Golden Tornado returned from North Hills’ Martorelli Stadium with a 1-0 victory over the Indians.

The win improved the Golden Tornado to 6-5-1 overall and 2-3 in section games.
